ReelerTV: Swanberg on the Stairs

The show returns with fest news, pleas to Harvey and another visit with Longworth -- Watch Now

After a few weeks away, ReelerTV returns today with a busy episode full of news you can use. Hannah Takes the Stairs director Joe Swanberg joined me for a chat about his film's anchoring the ongoing Generation DIY series at IFC Center (not to mention a teaser of his forthcoming Web series, Butterknife), while Spout Blog's Karina Longworth dropped by the Pioneer Theater to discuss some of the same series' lesser-known titles. We celebrated William Friedkin Week in NYC and mourned the untimely passing of IFC TV, hacked to death by stone-hearted marketers wielding euphemisms like machetes. Click on the video above to view more.

Be sure to check us out next week at the Toronto Film Festival, where we'll be tracking down some of the New York stories and storytellers migrating north for the first week of fall (and fall premieres). Wish us safe travels -- we'll see you then!

Amazing episode here. You're coverage throughout this week and last of The New Talkies has been superb. It's much appreciated.

Stu, this could be your best episode yet. I wasn't expecting you to go ape shit and throw your papers around. Classic. Funny Weinstein line as well. I laughed out loud on that one. These videos are addictive. Count me as a fan.

I wish Joe Swanberg had found and read more of the positive sounding press about his film - I've mostly seen great press for "Hannah..", and now for "Quiet City". I wish I was living in NYC now, so that I could see these new films. I caught "DP, USA" at Pioneer last November... very impressive.

So, this is cool... I've never really delved into any articles at The Reeler before, but both your site and ReelerTV is appealing. And a great video post, this one, so I guess I should finally get my act together and subscribe to your feed! Wouldn't want to miss out the Toronto report. Try to find a Norwegian film with the title "Gone with the Woman" - its magnificent!
