Screening Gotham: Blueberry Nights Flatlining at Cannes?

Some of today's movie news of note from around New York:

--OMG! The press has seen My Blueberry Nights! And! It's hot! It's flat! It's " reheated leftovers"! Alas, Wong Kar Wai came all the way to New York to make a pizza. That wasn't in the Weinstein Company contract. (Via GreenCine Daily)

--Speaking of Wong, he's "reworking" Ashes of Time for Sony Classics, which picked up the North American rights for a release later this year.

--Meanwhile, A.V. Clubber Noel Murray has the ultimate guide to armchair festivalgoing. Keep it handy while monitoring odds on your Palme D'Or office pool.

--Did a Times of London writer plagiarize the Daily News' Joe Neumeier? David Poland has the evidence, and it ain't pretty.

--While his bĂȘte noire Barry Diller was thwarting me across town, Jeffrey Katzenberg was all kinds of cool to the kids last night at the Shrek the Third premiere: "As (Mike) Myers was about to make the final push and head into the theater, the DreamWorks topper broke security protocol and led the funnyman to the children where Myers took his sweet time signing autographs and chatting." Awww. I kinda... like the guy.
