Web Drudgery Now Rewarded with Museum Immortality

Legitimacy here we come: The folks behind the Webby Awards sent word late last week that both the winners and the nominees of their 2007 online film and video prizes will join the permanent collection of the Museum of the Moving Image. This most definitely means the big time for me and a certain short film of mine starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet; I knew things were looking up around here.

At any rate, you, too, can achieve dilettante eternity if you submit your video by the Dec. 15 deadline; check the Webbies' Web site for more details and have a look at this item from Boing Boing for an idea of why a museum with a Web collection isn't the silliest thing you've ever heard of.

UPDATE: OMG OMG Harvey Weinstein is a contest judge! He'd probably go for a Kate Winslet film, wouldn't he?
