Though I checked out one of the shows last year, I missed Julian Schnabel's documentary of Lou Reed's 2006 Berlin revival when it premiered this year in Toronto. And now, unless someone has some breaking news he has yet to disclose (this means you, Thom Powers), the doc is bypassing New York once again on its way to a US premiere next year at South by Southwest. The screening coincides with Reed's keynote speaker status at the SXSW music festival, where he will open the proceedings March 13. I still doubt this will be enough to draw me to Texas, but stranger things have happened. Not many, but some. Stay tuned.
