Breaking Events News: Richard Leacock and Death of a President En Route to NYC

A couple of good events updates just came over the transom at Reeler HQ: First up is the slate for the Stranger Than Fiction tribute to Richard Leacock on Oct. 17 at IFC Center; the filmmaker will be in attendance for screenings of his rare 1954 shorts Toby and the Tall Corn and Jazz Dance and his 1964 film about the Fischer quintuplets, Happy Mother's Day. The program starts at 7:30 p.m.; tickets are available here.

And just announced for Oct. 24 is a special preview screening of the Toronto Film Festival sensation Death of a President at the Museum of the Moving Image; expect director Gabriel Range on hand for a sure-to-be-subtle Q&A and discussion. Should be a hoot, and a somewhat expensive one at that: Tickets are available for $22 at the Museum's Web site.
