Screening Gotham: AFI Coda: Fans Take Back the Vote

Some of today's movie news of note from around New York:

--You know The Reeler's distaste for the AFI's recent 100 Years, 100 Movies list was anchored in good intentions and at least a mild streak of constructive criticism, but the most proactively well-intentioned of the entire disgruntled lot is probably Alan Bacchus, who has posted an all-call for film fans to revise the AFI list on a little more populist basis. I'm not sure if this does much to restore the honor of the enterprise as a whole, but it couldn't be any worse than the work of those inbreds who started the nightmare in the first place. --I wanted to stick to the news here, but really, what better way to start the work week than with Marilyn Monroe scuzz gossip? According to today's Page Six, a new Clark Gable biography claims its subject absolutely did not have a fling with his messy Misfits co-star. "In as much as he had a fetish for cleanliness, she could not have been less fastidious regarding personal hygiene," wrote author David Bret. "Like Jean Harlow, she bleached her pubic hair and never wore panties. ... She suffered from what today would be described as a form of irritable bowel syndrome." Christ, guys, are no dead starlet's poopy drug side effects sacred?
