Screening Gotham: The Lindsay Index

Some of today's movie news of note from around New York:

--The New York premiere of Georgia Rule Tuesday night was a place for reflection on all things Lindsay Lohan, mostly by her mouthbreathing director Garry Marshall -- if we are to believe the blogosphere. And the Chicago Tribune. And Variety. But as Page Six reports, nobody could really swing with the implosive style of Dina Lohan, the stage mom-cum-red carpet vampire who parlayed her uterine jackpot into an interviewing gig with Entertainment Tonight. Among the impressed: her daughter's co-star Jane Fonda, who apparently high-tailed it from inquiries like, "What was it like working with my daughter?" to expel the tide of vomit dammed so graciously behind her lips. --At the Film Experience Blog, pop sage Nathaniel R. has the definitive list of who can help save La Lohan from herself, including Drew Barrymore, Winona Ryder and, cautiously, Jesus: "He's awesome but he is not a substitute for rehab. Whitney Houston was, by her own admission, using him instead of seeking treatment and there's lots of filmic evidence that that wasn't a smart move."

--In actual, you know, movie news, Manohla Dargis offers a lovely preview of BAM's Generation Garrel series, which launches today. Steve Dollar has an illuminating look-see at the same program over at The Sun.
